The Museum of Art, Ein Harod presents a major exhibition of the painter Sofia Kisselov.
She was born in Krakow, Poland in a cosmopolitan Jewish family. Together with her younger brother, she survived the Second World War and arrived in Israel in 1946.
Sofia began to study painting and sculpture at the Cracow Art Academy and, continued at the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem.
The 75 portrait paintings exhibited are characterized by many biographical elements that reflect memories, compassion, suffering ,and a strong desire for life. Her exhibition of revealing portraits of friends and strangers spans over 60 years of her artistic career.
The exhibition is accompanied by a book illustrating all works in the exhibition.
